Specifications for Litho Conversion Work

LAYOUTS
(1) Following the layouts we provide is CRITICAL for the successful die cutting and folding of your envelopes. Please DO NOT strip for your press until you have received a layout from EnvelopeAmerica. Please DO NOT proceed with a reprint before conferring with us. If there was an issue during the initial cutting, we may need to make some modifications.
(2) We will need to insure the layout is followed correctly BEFORE you go to press. Our approval of your job BEFORE you go to press will save time and money in the long run. Please submit an electronic proof of your full sheet (or one, live full sheet proof), along with the layout showing the exact size of the sheet, the exact positioning of the blanks, and the markings for Side Guide and Gripper.
(3) For jobs requiring multiple print versions, please contact Customer Service before laying out combination sheets.

SHEET MARKINGS/SPOTTER MARKS
(4) Sheets must have Side Guide and Gripper printed on sheet. Printed bleed bars must bleed on tail and both ends of the sheet per our layout. If you have any questions regarding this, please call Customer Service at (610) 859-0010.
(5) “Spotter” sheets must be packaged separately or clearly marked on the skid and placed on top of the load. Please supply one sheet for every 250 sheets of the total order quantity. DO NOT print all the sheets with these spotter marks or your entire job will have them. We require spotter sheets at most of our plants and will contact you if and when they are not necessary.

PRINT REQUIREMENTS/VARIATIONS
(6) Please allow a minimum of 1/8” bleed on all sides, including flap; if printed sheets are to be converted into envelopes with full coverage or bleeds. Movement can occur up to 1/16” in any direction so bleeds and postal barcodes must be centered to allow for variations in die cutting and folding. If color bars are to be printed, they must be at least 1/4” from any edge of the envelope blank.
(7) In cases where solid coverage is required, “Knock-Outs” must be included where adhesive is to be applied on seams, seal flap and the back of the envelope. Please allow knockouts for varnishes and aqueous coatings, too. Also, please be aware we may experience cutting and folding problems on uncoated sheets with varnishes or aqueous coatings.
(8) Scuffing, marking, and offset on jobs with unvarnished solids is inherent in the envelope folding process.
(9) Questions regarding copy placement, bleeds, close registration, edge-tight print, color bars or any other issues can be communicated to Customer Service.

SKID/PACKAGING SPECS
(10) Please provide a packing slip showing company name and the sheet count with your shipment. Ream marking is appreciated. Please notify your Customer Service Rep before a job arrives at our facility.
(11) Stock MUST arrive perfectly jogged on all four sides or additional charges for jogging will be required.
(12) Use 2-runner skids with runners at least 5-1/2” high, stacked single tier if sheet size is over 20 x 28 (not higher than 60” from the floor), and under 2000 pounds. Please DO NOT use used pallets, which may cause waviness in the stock.
(13) Stock should be covered with a full wooden lid, banded four ways and marked with a load ticket ON TOP of each skid with your company name and the sheet count per skid.
(14) If stock is to be printed on both sides of the sheet, skids must be delivered with outside copy facing up.
